Dormer roofs and cheeks are clad in sheet lead. Loft conversions and new buildings often have dormers, and lead cheeks will vary from lead code 4 to 5.
Higher codes will need intermediate fixings to prevent slipping and lighter lead will normally be recommended.
Cheeks will be welt joined into bays of no longer than 2 Meters, head fixings will be used along with copper fixings behind all welted joins.
Dormer tops can be leaded in the same practice as flat roof lead bays, turning down onto cheeks and clips.
A drip edge to front or a welted front faced joint can be formed. Lead is decorative and an effective form of weathering.
